Product and Publishing Context

Readude began with a product and operations question: how can a small independent publisher release demanding technical material without hiding uncertainty, collapsing editorial work into a single document, or treating checkout as the whole product?

The first title, Modern Cryptography, is a content-complete release candidate under private review. The public site can present the book and an evaluation sample, but sales remain disabled until Beta, named-reader and device QA, final artifact verification, and release approval are complete.

Key Decisions and Trade-offs

Gate release by evidence, not dates

The manuscript, public website, release artifacts, private QA evidence, and operational decisions are kept as separate but traceable surfaces. A target date never overrides an incomplete review or release gate.

Make AI assistance visible and bounded

AI-assisted tools contributed to drafting, organization, and translation. Human responsibility remains explicit for selection, source checks, verification, editing, issue triage, and release, without claiming peer review or a cryptographic audit.

Verify controls before enabling commerce

The public site can explain the product, offer a sample, and accept Beta applications while checkout remains disabled. Price, product, delivery, and release controls stay behind reviewed configuration and explicit release approval before a public sale can occur.

Current Outcome and Evidence

Readude now has a live public site, an invite-only Beta application, public errata, changelog, and legal pages, plus an English RC3 sample in PDF, EPUB, and Markdown with published checksums. Modern Cryptography connects 33 chapters in a single learning sequence.

The publishing workflow rebuilds English and Traditional Chinese publication candidates from ordered, version-controlled sources and records format, link, code, and package checks. This is evidence of a reproducible publishing system, not commercial validation, so public traffic, sales, and revenue are not presented as project outcomes.

Current Limitations

  • Invite-only Beta, remaining named-reader and device QA, and the final R2 release gate are incomplete, so public sales remain disabled.
  • Modern Cryptography has not received independent peer review or a full cryptographic audit, and its educational examples are not approved for production use.
  • Readude currently demonstrates one technical publishing product and does not yet claim repeatable commercial demand, sales, or revenue.

Readude is presented as a pre-launch product and publishing-system case study. Public sales remain disabled, and no sales, revenue, peer-review, audit, or market-validation claim is made.
